Guardian Legend is a 1988 hybrid action-adventure/shoot 'em up o game developed by Compile for Nintendo Entertainment System, released by Nintendo in Europe in 1990.
In the game, the player controls a lone protagonist, the Guardian, who is on a quest to destroy a large alien-infested world named Naju before it reaches the planet Earth. Players acquire various weapons throughout the course of the game, and gameplay varies depending on the player's location within Naju (which the player can explore in a non-linear fashion). The objective is to deactivate ten safety devices scattered throughout Naju to activate the alien world's self-destruct sequence.
Guardian Legend has been praised for its impressive graphics, memorable sound, and responsive controls, and is considered a classic multi-genre game.
